According to Korean media reports, due to the recent shortage of enterprise-class NAND flash memory product solid-state drives (SSDs), Samsung Electronics plans to increase the price of enterprise-class solid-state drives (SSDs) in the second quarter by up to 25%.

The reason is the booming development of artificial intelligence and the subsequent explosive growth in the demand for storage equipment required by large technology companies around the world to build data centers. Companies such as Nvidia and Tesla are competing to purchase storage servers for AI, driving server companies such as Dell and HP to purchase enterprise-class solid-state drives.

An insider in the semiconductor industry said, "Recently, server companies seeking to expand storage capacity have rushed to purchase SSD orders. Some products are even out of stock, leading to consideration of increasing production."

According to reports, following the worst downturn last year, Samsung Electronics expects to increase enterprise-level SSD prices in the NAND field by 20-25% in the second quarter of this year. Initially, Samsung Electronics planned to increase prices by about 15% from the previous quarter, but demand surged beyond expectations, prompting a larger price increase.

SSD is a large-capacity storage device manufactured using NAND flash memory. As the dominant player in the enterprise SSD market, Samsung Electronics occupies about half of the market share and has a significant influence on price decisions.

At the same time, the prospects of DRAM are also promising. DRAM prices fell after July 2021 and began to rebound last year due to production cuts by major suppliers such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. DRAM fixed transaction prices have been rising since October last year.
