Currently, OpenAI supports 161 countries and regions, excluding mainland China and Hong Kong, China.

At present, before July 9, there are two main channels for using OpenAI technology in mainland China, and the API capabilities provided by these two channels are the same.

First, connect to the API provided by OpenAI officially (current use may be banned at any time, and developers with personal interests can choose).

Second, connect to the OpenAI technology provided by Microsoft Azure (currently the only compliant channel, application requires corporate qualifications).

And because domestic large model websites must be registered and approved, Chinese companies that rely on OpenAI technology usually deploy GPT APIs on overseas sites, and the impact of technical blockades remains to be seen.

Although OpenAI's cessation of API services to China may have a certain short-term impact on China's AI industry, in the long run, it may also become an opportunity to promote independent innovation and research and development of domestic AI technology. It may prompt China's big model companies to accelerate independent research and development, promote the development and innovation of domestic AI technology, and related developers and enterprises may turn more to domestic big models to avoid possible risks in the future.

After OpenAI announced that it would stop providing services to China, domestic big model platforms (companies) such as Tongyi Qianwen, Baidu Smart Cloud, Tencent Cloud, and Zhipu AI took action to provide users with alternatives.

Alibaba Cloud Bailian said that Tongyi Qianwen will provide the most cost-effective Chinese big model alternative for OpenAI API users, and provide Chinese developers with 22 million free tokens and exclusive migration services.

Baidu Smart Cloud released the "Big Model Universal Plan" on the 25th: Wenxin flagship big model is free for the first time for newly registered corporate users, and supports users to switch to Baidu Smart Cloud Qianfan big model platform at 0 cost. Tencent Cloud will give away 100 million Tencent Hunyuan Shengwen tokens for free to newly registered corporate users, and provide exclusive personal migration services.
