According to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, citing the Taiwan Economic Daily, major mobile phone manufacturers will launch new models in the second half of the year, the PC market will gradually turn to recovery, and silver prices will rise. The industry pointed out that first-tier passive component manufacturers including Murata, TDK, etc. are expected to increase the quotes of multilayer inductors/magnetic beads, and it is expected that large sizes will increase in price first, with an increase of about 10% to 20%.
According to Cailianshe, Guotai Junan Research Report pointed out that the recovery of storage and AI downstream is strong, while the recovery of traditional consumer electronics is slow. It is expected that the peak season of consumer electronics in the third quarter will drive demand upward in all aspects, including mobile phones, PCs, general servers, etc.
Many domestic chip design companies have issued performance forecast announcements. Considering that the third quarter is the peak season for consumer electronics, they are optimistic about the performance of Apple's downstream companies in the industry chain, digital SoC companies, storage downstream companies, and server downstream companies.
According to Fast Technology, a report by research firm IDC shows that global smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 6.5% year-on-year to 285.4 million units, but demand in many markets has not yet recovered.

Samsung and Apple ranked first and second with 18.9% (53.9 million units shipped, up 0.7% year-on-year) and 15.8% (45.2 million units shipped, up 1.5% year-on-year). According to IT Home, Samsung announced that it has developed its first 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM memory and plans to start mass production in the second half of the year. At present, the maximum speed of LPDDR5X DRAM memory of other manufacturers is 9.6Gbps. This DRAM can be used for MediaTek's next-generation Dimensity 9400 flagship platform to be launched in the second half of this year.
Samsung said that this 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X memory is based on a 12nm-level process, and its performance is improved by more than 25% and its capacity is increased by more than 30% compared with the previous generation. The memory also expands the single-package capacity of mobile DRAM to 32GB, meeting the needs of end-side AI applications for high-performance and large-capacity memory.
