According to a Reuters report on August 22, a spokesman for Japan's Toyota said that due to a shortage of parts caused by a fire at a local supplier, the company's Czech plant had suspended production.
Toyota spokesman Tomas Paroubek said: "We were forced to stop production last night, which of course affects our production schedule, and it is unclear how long the shutdown will last."
It is reported that Toyota's Czech plant produces 1,000 vehicles a day, which is the second shutdown of the plant this year.
Previous Japanese media reports pointed out that Toyota's consolidated financial report (International Accounting Standards) for April to December 2022 showed that net profit fell by 18% year-on-year to 1,899 billion yen. To restore profitability, Toyota is tasked with ramping up production. In 2023, the "Toyota" brand including "Corolla" and "Prius" and the luxury car "Lexus" brand will strive to produce a maximum of 10.6 million vehicles.
However, increasing production is not easy. In the 2022 fiscal year announced on the occasion of the release of the financial report, the global production plan is 9.1 million vehicles, a decrease of 100,000 vehicles from the previous plan, mainly due to the continued shortage of chips.
