Among them, mobile phones are the largest end-user market for CIS. Samsung is a leading mobile phone manufacturer and a leading global CIS supplier. According to a CIS industry report released by research organization Yole Intelligence, Samsung will rank second with a market share of 19% in 2022. Currently, the world's largest CIS supplier is Japanese company Sony.

Affected by the sluggish demand in the consumer electronics market, the CIS market will decline for the first time in 13 years in 2022, and the global CIS industry revenue will decline year-on-year. In this year, in addition to Sony, the market shares of international CIS manufacturers such as Samsung and OmniVision Technology all fell. has declined.

After entering the second half of this year, as the smartphone market demand began to fully recover, especially driven by the vigorous promotion of Chinese mobile phone brands, the demand for CIS grew rapidly. At present, smartphones with three rear cameras have become standard equipment for mainstream mid-range mobile phones, and four cameras have become standard equipment for flagship phones. The recovery of the smartphone market has particularly significantly boosted the demand for CIS.

At present, the global CIS market is monopolized by Japan and South Korea, and domestic manufacturers still have a lot of room for growth. According to data, the global CIS market size will be approximately US$21.3 billion in 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 1.9%. Among them, Sony has a market share of 42%, Samsung has a market share of 19%, and Howe has a market share of 11%. Other domestic manufacturers, Gekewei, have a market share of 4%, and Smartway has a market share of 2%.

Although the high-end CIS market is mainly occupied by Sony and Samsung, domestic CIS manufacturers are currently increasing investment in high-value-added high-end CIS products and automotive CIS products, and have also achieved some successes. Not a bad result. With the sharp price increase of Samsung CIS, it will also bring opportunities for substitution of domestic manufacturers.
