The industry infers that although Marvell's dismissal of the NAND Flash team in Taiwan does not mean a complete withdrawal of the NAND Flash control IC business, it is not difficult to see that its memory business is still difficult.

It is understood that many original manufacturers are currently rushing to attack the NAND Flash control IC market, through self-development or outsourcing design and mass production. This has also impacted the operations of Marvell, which is oriented to the enterprise market, and has forced it to start downsizing related teams. .

The industry speculates that Phison is expected to benefit from this layoff, not only to grab relevant talents, but also to expand its market share in NAND Flash control ICs, so that the shipment momentum of AI-related SSD control ICs is expected to increase simultaneously. .

It is reported that this is not the first time that Marvell has reported news of downsizing its team. In October 2022, Marvell laid off most of its R&D members in its Shanghai and Chengdu branches. In May of this year, it was reported that the company planned to lay off about 15% of its R&D personnel, or about 1,000 people, globally, of which only about 5% were in the United States, and most of the remaining layoffs were in mainland China.
